As the global transition to renewable energy accelerates, Mongolia stands at the forefront with its vast solar potential. However, the region's extreme climate and remote geography present unique challenges for stable power. MECC is proud to showcase four landmark projects in Mongolia, demonstrating how our customized Solar-plus-Storage (BESS) solutions solve critical energy bottlenecks in the mining, hospitality, and retail sectors.

1. Fluorspar Mine: Smart Expansion Without Transformer Upgrades
Location: Remote Mongolia The Challenge: A remote fluorspar mine faced unstable grid voltage and high electricity costs. With a current 400kW inductive load and a 630kVA transformer, the client planned to add another 350kW of load. The total 800kW demand exceeded the transformer's capacity, but the client was reluctant to undergo a costly and time-consuming grid transformer upgrade.

To give the client the best ROI, MECC designed two distinct paths:
Option A: Standard Optimization (Transformer Upgrade Required)
Configuration: 500kW Solar PV + 400kW Inverter + 108kWh Battery.
Focus: This system maximizes self-consumption and lowers electricity bills. However, it requires the client to invest in expanding the grid transformer capacity to handle the upcoming 800kW load.

Option B: Smart Capacity Expansion (No Transformer Change)
Configuration: 610kW Solar PV + 500kW Inverter + 522kWh High-Capacity BESS.
Focus: This is a "Virtual Expansion" solution. The 522kWh storage system acts as a buffer, providing the extra power needed during peak loads. The core advantage? The client can support the full 800kW operation without the expensive and time-consuming process of upgrading the physical transformer.

2. Remote Gold Mine: Liquid-Cooled Hybrid System for -30°C Winters

Location: Off-grid Mining Zone The Challenge: Operating entirely off-grid, this gold mine relied on expensive, hard-to-transport diesel fuel to power its 150kW operations (including heavy-duty water pumps). The fluctuating price of diesel and the logistical nightmare of remote transport were eating into profit margins.

We implemented a robust PV-Storage-Diesel Hybrid Microgrid:
The System: 400kW Solar PV + 300kW Inverter + 783kWh Liquid-Cooled BESS.
The "Cold-Proof" Technology: To withstand Mongolia's brutal -30°C winters, MECC deployed a liquid-cooled storage cabinet. This ensures optimal battery temperature, longevity, and safety where traditional air-cooled systems would fail.
The Result: Significant reduction in diesel consumption and 24/7 stable power for mining machinery and staff living quarters.

3. Tourist Camp: Achieving "Energy Freedom" with Lithium Technology

Location: Rural Tourism Hub The Challenge: A popular tourist camp with 24 guest houses and a large restaurant struggled with a legacy lead-acid solar system. Due to the low capacity and inefficiency of lead-acid batteries, the camp faced "blackouts" every night after 8:00 PM, leaving guests without lights, hot water, or heating.

We replaced the outdated system with a high-performance lithium microgrid:

The System: 125kW Solar PV + 125kW Inverter + 108kWh Lithium Battery.
The Result: The camp has achieved complete "Energy Freedom." All appliances-including electric stoves, water heaters, and laundry facilities-now run smoothly through the night. Client satisfaction has reached an all-time high, proving that reliable energy is the backbone of the modern tourism experience.

4. Local Supermarket: Eliminating Grid Instability and Downtime

Location: Urban/Suburban Mongolia The Challenge: Frequent grid outages and voltage fluctuations were paralyzing a local supermarket's POS (checkout) systems. Every blackout required several minutes to manually start a diesel generator, leading to customer frustration and lost sales.

MECC's Optimized Solution:
The System: 50kW Solar PV + 50kW Inverter + 108kWh Energy Storage.
The Result: The MECC system provides an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) effect. When the grid fails, the storage system kicks in instantly, keeping the cash registers, refrigeration, and lighting active. The supermarket has eliminated its dependence on expensive diesel backup and stabilized its operational costs.
